In this class we will discuss the meaning of "slow fashion," natural dyes, natural fibers, and eco-conscious alternatives. We will walk around the land and talk about the variety of color that nature provides just outside your home and inside your kitchen. We will explore the different methods of extracting pigment from plants and how to achieve various results. In this class you will learn a basic recipe for natural dyeing as well as setting up an organic indigo vat. While the vat develops, students will be shown shibori techniques and ways to create motifs in fabric.
Workshop is $40 and includes materials. Each student will take home their very own indigo dyed raw silk scarf.
